Behind
Behind
I'm always behind on something.
All the "should" that piles up -
the dishes, my eternal enemy,
my self care routine,
my exercise,
my email,
my work,
the laundry that scatters the floor ...
Most of life feels like
trying to catch up and
always falling behind,
until the past is the present.
I am curious about the day
the sink bursts opens,
the floor crumbles,
and I am forced to forget
what was behind
and to grab onto
what is.
Damn! Ok, so, how am I doing feedback, according to the process you posted? Thanks. Are you asking for feedback? Mostly just COOL I LOVE the surprise in the way the poem ends but the thing I like about poetry is how it centers me; a good poem can make me feel the spirit's presence and I am interested to share in the cultivation of that writing capacity. Neat. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteRound 1 - Single Words
Ask your observers for themes, ideas, or other points they noticed, one word at
a time. A single word about their reaction. I like to ask for “pebbles” or “a single
ripple” so people don’t overthink it and try to summarize. It may be helpful
during this round to emphasize to your observers that they are welcome to bring
what is very uniquely theirs without filter or a wish to “be correct.”
Great word feedback, what I wanted to go for.
